Our annual XRT Blues Fest Broadcast is this evening beginning at 6:00pm and will star Buddy Guy, Shemekia Copeland and The Kinsey Report. (Read more about that HERE.) But afterward, lead guitarist, Donald Kinsey, will be a part of a very program at S.P.A.C.E. in Evanston. Donald will be dashing out of Legends and heading to the near north suburb to be a part of Dave Specter’s Adventures in Guitar program.
Dave Specter’s Adventures in Guitar series, which has been running at SPACE for the past four years, has featured memorable moments with some of the finest talents in blues and jazz including Jimmy Johnson, Lurrie Bell, Steve Freund, Jeff Parker, Tad Robinson, Nick Moss, John Primer and Eddie Shaw.
From the age of 17, when Donald began touring with blues giant Albert King, his career in has been nothing short of remarkable. Recording and touring with the likes of Bob Marley and The Wailers, Peter Tosh, Roy Buchanan, The Staple Singers and The Kinsey Report, he blends a powerful and soulful approach to blues, R&B and reggae.

Dave Specter has been a fixture on the Chicago blues scene since the mid-1980s and is featured as a guitarist, bandleader and producer on over 35 CDs and DVDs. His 9th album “Spectified” was recorded at the SPACE studios in 2010. Dave recently performed for President Obama at The Chicago Cultural Center and was featured at the 2011 and 2012 Chicago Blues . He’s recently performed in Israel, Argentina, France, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, Denmark, Hawaii and California.
